Young stars Andrea Brillantes and Francine Diaz talked about how they became victims of cancel culture and how to deal with the toxicity that comes along with social media.

In a virtual press conference of a digital anthology series ‘Click, Like, Share‘, the two shared their experiences of getting canceled.

According to Miriam-Webster, “cancel culture” is the practice or tendency of engaging in mass canceling as a way of expressing disapproval and exerting social pressure.

Brillantes started by saying that she experienced the cancel culture even before it was a thing.

Feeling ko talaga wala akong kakampi,” she shared.

Thanks to her family and mindset, the young star managed to get back to her feet and continue pursuing a career in the entertainment industry as she is the breadwinner of her family.

She added that one of the valuable lessons that she learned is she cannot please everyone and she should just focus on living for herself and her goals.

On the other hand, Diaz talked about how the public should try to understand and respect public figures as she has previously defended celebrities from the cancel culture.

She also mentioned how easy it is for netizens to taint and end an artist just because of disagreements and miscommunications.

“For me po, sana mabawasan yung ganon o matigil kasi tao rin po kaming mga artista. meron kaming mga nararamdaman.
