Apparently, netizens disagree with Sen. Robin Padilla’s remarks that Filipino men look better than their South Korean counterparts.
Padilla said he didn’t need plastic surgery in order to enhance his appearance during the senate hearing on the FDCP’s budget for 2023.
Padilla wanted answers from Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Chairman Tirso Cruz III on why Filipinos favor Koreans when they look better than Korean celebrities.
“Bakit po mas gustong panoorin ng ating mga kababayan ang gawa ng mga Koreano kaysa sa gawa natin?” he asked.
In response to Padilla’s question, Cruz answered that it took the Korean industry many years to hone. He continued, “I do believe we Filipinos are better as filmmakers, as actors, but maybe it’s because we’ve been left behind technology-wise and preparation-wise that we can’t be at par with them now.”
Here are some of the netizens’ tweets:
okay these good-for-nothing senators need to stop attacking kdramas for no reason. i can accept your plan on banning kdramas to promote local shows, but for you to compare yourselves to k-actors and say "mas pogi naman kami" is too much. yes i am talking to you robin padilla.

Robin Padilla nagtataka sa pagkahumaling ng Pinoy sa K-Drama: Mas pogi naman kami!it's not all about personality but its's all about quality. The local just need to level up their standard to be able to compete the industry globally instead of pointing finger.

During the hearing, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada proposed banning Korean dramas and foreign programs in the country to boost local content. He has since explained that he said what he said out of frustration.
