MANILA, Philippines — After a slight delay due to a positive COVID-19 case, the national finals of the MPBL Chooks-to-Go Lakan Season will be played next week pitting North division titlist San Juan against either Davao Occidental or Basilan from the South.
The best-of-five finale starts on Wednesday or Thursday under a compressed schedule depending on the developments regarding Basilan’s second swab testing following a seven-day quarantine.
Basilan is up for re-test on Tuesday after two players tested positive prior to their entry into the Subic bubble earlier this week.
If Basilan is declared unfit to play, Davao would be rewarded with a default win and an automatic ticket to the finals against San Juan.
Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes said the decision is in the hands of the Department of Health and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.
