CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Several micro and small enterprise owners in Bataan have received financial assistance to help them recover from the socio-economic impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) provided on Monday the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) of PHP10,000 each to eligible low-income individuals.

DSWD Regional Director Jonathan V. Dirain said on Tuesday the program aims to help pandemic-hit families recover from economic losses by providing support to their new or existing micro-enterprise projects.

“Ang bawat benepisyaryo ay nakatanggap ng PHP10,000 na gagamitin nila para mas lumago ang kanilang negosyo na naapektuhan ng community quarantine (Every beneficiary has received PHP10,000 that they will use to boost their business affected by the community quarantine),” Dirain said in a social media post.

Bataan Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III said the DSWD’s livelihood assistance grant will provide additional support to his constituents aside from the assistance being given by the provincial government.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa DSWD at tanggapan ni Senator Bong Go na ating mga katuwang sa pag-aabot ng tulong pinansyal sa ating mga kababayang higit na nangangailangan (I am grateful to the DSWD and to the office of Senator Bong Go, who are our partners in extending financial assistance to our province mates who are in greater need),” Garcia said.

Before the distribution, the beneficiaries underwent a business seminar conducted by the Department of Trade Industry through its Negosyo Center in Balanga City.

“The beneficiaries have undergone seminar to capacitate and guide them on how to manage their micro-enterprises,” said DSWD’s SLP-LAG coordinator, Alice Chan-Labrador. (PNA)
