Located at Seda Hotel in Ayala Malls Central Bloc, Misto at Seda had the launching of its show kitchen on September 14, 2022. I was greeted by friendly staff who helped me find my seat before the program started. Of course, I did not want to miss the best spot—the one overlooking the city with the best lighting and a view of the show kitchen itself!
The modern three-window show kitchen highlights the use of a Tuscany Charcoal Grill – the first of its kind in Cebu. Fresh meat and seafood are chargrilled and roasted on the spot on the charcoal-fueled grill, in clear view of diners who will enjoy watching the culinary skills of the chefs as well as the opportunity to discover how-tos for cooking. The grill is big enough to roast everyone’s favorite lechon!
“We wanted to have a more interactive kitchen catered for a better dining experience,” says Ron Manalang, the Hotel Manager. During the show, traditional pizza making was highlighted behind the kitchen glasses where guests could easily see the process of cooking. The chefs were tossing the pizza dough in the air, adding some olives and grated cheese on top. A truly magnificent experience.
Misto also presents different kinds of freshly-baked breads from its show kitchen. Try a hand-made bread bowl paired with the soup of the day to start off your lunch or dinner.
The restaurant seats about a hundred customers, consisting of family dining tables, booths, and chairs reflecting the ambiance of the place. The walls were cream-blushed, resonating with the contemporary appeal of the restaurant. Once you enter the place, you will definitely feel like you’re dining somewhere fancy in Europe or in Asia. Not to mention the Instagrammable-worthy angles you could get!
The buffet offers a variety of selections from home-filled Filipino favorites, to Mediterranean-Italian cuisine, to a snack bar that you’ll definitely adore! The dishes that caught my eye are the smoked tangigue, roasted scallops, and Filipino gulamans in port glasses. The richness of their flavor made me recall my childhood—Sunday getaways with my family to our mini island in Lapu-Lapu. Just a sweet flashback of the salty air!
Although the restaurant has a wide variety of cuisine, its main goal is to preserve the Filipino identity in recipes and cooking. The scope of the restaurant, as Manalang explained, “… we also want to touch the average market,” is to target the masses, especially the tourists where everyone could have the luxury of enjoying their food whilst looking at a great view surrounded by high-rise buildings.
The buffet price starts at Php 649 per person daily for lunch and Php 699 per person for the weekend dinner buffet. They also have weekly themes for their buffet; for the rest of September, they are featuring Korean favorites.
