MANILA – Tropical depression (TD) Isang slightly intensified but it is unlikely to affect the country Friday.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Raymond Ordinario said it is too far from the Philippine landmass and would not directly affect the country.

As of PAGASA's 11 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, “Isang” was last located 75 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, moving west at 20 kms. per hour.

"There is no chance that 'Isang' would move towards any part of the country," Ordinario said.

He added that “Isang” is also unlikely to enhance the southwest monsoon while inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The TD packs maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 70 kph. No tropical cyclone wind signal is currently in effect.

“Isang” is not expected to affect the coastal waters or sea conditions.

Ordinario said “Isang” may possibly intensify into a tropical storm by Saturday, but will weaken as it moves away from PAR.

“Isang” is expected to exit PAR by Sunday. (PNA)
