GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Some PHP68 million cash aid will still be distributed to students in the Soccsksargen area, the regional Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-12) office here said Friday.
The amount is for 44,000 beneficiaries who will receive their cash aid in the succeeding Saturday payouts as part of the government’s Aid to Individual Crisis Situation (AICS) Education Assistance Program.
DSWD-12 head Restituto Macuto said Friday some PHP28 million of cash aid was already distributed from their PHP96 million total fund.
“A total of 12,339 students benefited from the program since the two successive Saturday payouts,” he said.
Macuto urged applicants to wait for a confirmation message from their office before proceeding to payout venues, as the DSWD Region-12 has strict policy on overcrowding.
“No walk-in policy, no text confirmation, no educational assistance policy,” he said.
Interested individuals can apply to the program through email, Quick Response Code (QR code), or drop boxes.
Macuto said not all applicants will be catered to due to the office’s limited funds, but gave assurance that the names of all qualified applicants will be submitted to their central office, which will find the means to extend the financial assistance.
The AICS Education Assistance Program is a DSWD cash assistance program that aims to help students with their education expenses such as tuition, books, and other school-related fees. (PNA)
