Over 73K Ilocos indigents get Covid-19 vax

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Some 73,837 indigents or those under the A5 priority group in Ilocos Region have been inoculated with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines as of October 18.

In a phone interview on Wednesday, the Department of Health Center for Health Development Ilocos Region (DOH-CHD 1) Covid-19 focal person Dr. Rheuel Bobis said of the total number, 68,803 were vaccinated with the first dose while the 5,034 were fully immunized.

He said there are a total of 562,682 eligible population in the region under the A5 priority group.

The vaccination for the adult population or the 18 years and above has started in the different provinces in the region.

“The prioritization was revised and as per President Rodrigo Duterte’s mandate that we start inoculating the rest of the adult population but we still prioritize the A group,” Bobis added.

He said some 7,522 adult population not belonging to the priority A group has received their first dose while some 411 adults were fully vaccinated as of October 18.

Meanwhile, under the A1 group or the workers in frontline services, there are a total of 120,017 who got their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine while 105,824 were fully immunized, he said.

For the extended A1 group or the outbound overseas Filipino workers, family members of healthcare workers, and others belonging to A1, there are 50,520 who were inoculated with the first dose and 32,509 with the complete doses.

Some 313,146 senior citizens or those under the A2 priority group were vaccinated with the first dose and 280,821 were fully immunized.

Under A3 or the persons with comorbidities, 335,588 got their first dose and 259,970 were fully vaccinated.

There were 590 pregnant women in the region who were inoculated with the first dose and 93 received doses.

For the A4 priority group or the frontline personnel in the essential sector, 372,038 got their first dose while 169,466 were fully vaccinated.

“We target to vaccinate 90 percent of the target population in the region by early 2022,” Bobis said.(PNA)
