LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA) regional office in Bicol locked down its office from Monday until Thursday for thorough disinfection after coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases were found among its personnel and close contacts.

In a statement released on Monday, the agency also asked for the indulgence and understanding of the public.

"Skeleton workforce will man the office to ensure the unhampered delivery of basic services to our clients," it added.

Meanwhile, the Bicol Medical Center (BMC)-Department of Psychiatry also known as the Don Susano Rodriguez Memorial Mental Hospital located in Barangay Cadlan, Pili town in Camarines Sur, was shut down on Sunday after patients and a healthcare worker also tested positive for Covid-19, the BMC said.

Mylce Mella, BMC spokesperson, in a press statement said the lockdown will be in effect until further notice as the said premises would undergo disinfection and contact tracing procedures.

She said the staff and patients were already isolated and necessary infection prevention and control measures were put in place, as the hospital’s Epidemiology Surveillance Unit and the Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious diseases (EREID) team are treating and closely monitoring the patients.

"Because of the lockdown, the BMC- Department of Psychiatry temporarily suspend its out-patient services, hence patients or families who will need psychiatric help and follow-up check-up to coordinate with your respective Municipal Health Officers," the advisory added.

In case of emergency, the BMC-Department of Psychiatry may be reached through the hotline 09610376820. "Thank you and we apologize for this inconvenience. We ask for prayers of healing for our positive patients and staff," Mella said. (PNA)
