CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga –The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office here has rehired 346 contact tracers to help prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
DILG provincial director Myrvi Apostol-Fabia cited on Tuesday the importance of renewing the services of the contact tracers for the continuous implementation of contact tracing, considered one of the effective strategies to curb the transmission of Covid-19 virus.
Fabia said the 346 contact tracers were deployed to different local government units (LGUs) in the province to be partners of the local governments in enhancing its capacity response against Covid-19.
“Datihan na sa trabahao ang mga na-renew na contact tracers at muling kinuha ng departamento base sa kanilang kasanayan at kaaalaman sa pagtukoy at pagtunton ng mga close contacts (Those contact tracers whose contract of services were renewed have previously worked and they were rehired by the department based on their skills and knowledge on identifying and tracing close contacts),” she said in an official social media account post.
Fabia thanked the contact tracers for their dedication and determination in fulfilling their tasks amid the dangers brought by the virus.
“Ngayon, higit kailanman kinakialangan ang kolaborasyon at pakikipagtulungan ng bawat isa ng sa gayon ay unti-unti nating mapagtagumpayan ang labang ito. Hindi ito magiging madali lalo pa’t napaka agresibo ng virus ngunit kakayanin natin ito kung tayo ay sama-sama. Hangad ko din lagi ang kaligtasan ng bawat isa (Now, more than ever, the collaboration and cooperation of every one are needed so that we can gradually succeed in this fight. This is not easy especially that the virus is very aggressive but we can do it if we are together. I also wish for the safety of every one),” she said.
As of August 30, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province is 34,890 with 5,730 active cases.
The total number of recoveries is 27,402 while the total number of deaths is 1,758. (PNA)
