MANILA – Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque will be participating in the annual United Nations (UN) International Law Week that will be held in the United States from Oct. 28 to 30.

“It is an official visit to the UN on the occasion of the UN International Law Week,” Roque said in a virtual press conference, when asked about the purpose of his stay in the US.

He said he will join the UN International Week as part of the Philippine delegation.

“I am supported by officials from the Office of the President and the Department of Foreign Affairs,” he said.

Roque added that he is with his wife, Mylah, “but on [his] own account.”

The UN International Law Week is held in New York City every October.

The event, hosted annually by the American Branch of the International Law Organization (ABILA), presents several international law issues and developments.

This year’s theme for the annual UN International Law Week is “Reinvesting in International Law.”

The annual occasion will feature at least 32 panels addressing questions on international law, a high-level President’s Opening Plenary, two keynote addresses, the 99th Members Meeting, and other networking opportunities for both professionals and students, according to ABILA’s official website.

Former International Criminal Court prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, who requested for a full-blown investigation into President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war, is one of the keynote speakers.(PNA)
