MANILA – The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has so far released more than PHP198.5 million in medical assistance to 25,124 eligible beneficiaries nationwide in August this year.
Citing the latest data released on Wednesday, the PCSO said the funds were released to beneficiaries through the agency's Medical Access Program (MAP).
In Luzon, the beneficiaries include 3,907 indigents from the National Capital Region who received PHP38.3 million worth of assistance; 6,248 indigents from Northern and Central Luzon who were given PHP51.3 million; 6,603 indigents from the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region who received PHP43.8 million.
In the Visayas, 4,468 individuals were provided with PHP35 million in medical aid while 3,898 individuals received PHP29.9 million in Mindanao.
The MAP, formerly known as the Individual Medical Assistance Program, is designed to augment the medical assistance for indigent Filipinos, particularly for hospital confinement, chemotherapy, dialysis, and post-transplant medicines.
The program is funded by revenues from PCSO games nationwide. (PNA)
