MANILA – The Supreme Court (SC) will physically open starting Monday, but with a skeleton workforce only.

Under Memorandum Order No. 72-2021 issue Friday, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo said beginning Aug. 23 and until further notice, SC offices shall be physically open but "considering the still alarming number of reported daily Covid 19 infections, there is still a necessity to maintain a reduced work force".

A skeleton staff of up to a maximum of 25 percent of the workforce of each office service shall be allowed, except in the offices of the Chief Justice and Associate Justices.

“Chief of Offices/Services may opt may also opt to avail of WFH (work from home) arrangement for two days in a week on condition that they are on call and their lines of communication must be open at all times,” the memo read.

The chiefs must also make sure they submit the work accomplishment report of their WFH staff within the first five days of the month.

Other employees shall continue to be under WFH status to keep the offices’ vital functions fully operational and ensure non-disruption of operations.

The National Capital Region and Laguna have been downgraded to modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from Aug. 21 to 31.

Bataan will also be under MECQ from Aug. 23 to 31. (PNA)
