2 Zamboanga City drug suspects yield P2-M shabu

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two suspected big-time drug pushers were arrested and yielded some PHP2 million worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations here, a police official announced Monday.

Capt. Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-9 information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Almutlah Angkaya Maharan, 39 and Ben Saidul Muksan, 25.

Duco said Maharan was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 5:35 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Tumaga.

Seized from him were some 250 grams of suspected shabu packed in five heat-sealed plastic sachets with an estimated value of PHP1.7 million, 499 pieces of PHP1,000 bills boodle money, topped with one PHP1,000 genuine bill as marked money, and a coin purse.

Duco said Muksan was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Monday along Masambo Drive, Block 1, Barangay Baliwasan.

Recovered from Muksan were some PHP300,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 21 heat-sealed plastic sachets and a wallet.

He said the suspects are now locked up in jail pending the formal filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against them any time this week. (PNA)
