CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Health Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH CLCHD) on Thursday turned over medical transport vehicles to 19 municipalities in the region to enhance the delivery of local health services.

The move is part of the mandate of the agency's Health Facility Enhancement Program to support local Universal Health Care implementations through the provision of medical transport and equipment to local government units (LGUs).

Of the 19 LGU health facility recipients, one is in Bataan province, four in Bulacan, nine in Nueva Ecija, two in Pampanga and three in Tarlac.

DOH CLCHD Director Corazon Flores said on Friday the medical transport vehicles will be used by the LGUs for the continuous delivery of quality healthcare services to their localities.

"Together, we shall ensure that each vehicle will be made available to anyone who will be in need of immediate ambulance services in their respective municipalities. We aim to keep patients stable while they get transferred to a health facility for more specialized care," Flores said in a statement.

Each of the medical transport vehicles is equipped with an ambulance stretcher, automatic external defibrillator (AED), nebulizer, portable suction machines, manual resuscitators, oxygen cylinder and other medical equipment and accessories that are needed to ensure quality patient transport.

She asked the recipients to take care of the vehicles for their enhanced delivery of emergency health services in their area.

Meanwhile, Flores assured that the DOH will continue to improve primary health care and provide easy access to health services in the communities. (PNA)
