Boracay front-liners train on tourism industry skills

ILOILO CITY – The Department of Tourism Western Visayas (DOT-6) kicked off on Thursday its series of training for stakeholders and front-liners as it gears to welcome more visitors from various parts of the country.

“Considering that Boracay Island is now open to more areas in the Philippines, we continue to equip our tourism workers with the knowledge and skills on how to handle tourists while observing minimum health and safety protocols,” said DOT 6 regional director Cristine Mansinares in a statement.

The training sessions under DOT’s Tourism Industry Skills Program (TISP) comprising of courses on front office operations, basic housekeeping and the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence will run until October 29 with 120 participants.

The participants will be provided with basic knowledge

"Let us bring forth the best Filipino hospitality and deliver tourism experiences that are fun, safe, and sustainable,” Mansinares added.

Also ongoing on the island is the orientation on the conduct of Tourism Product Market Survey (TPMS) by the DOT - Office of Tourism Development Planning, Research and Information Management (OTDPRIM).

The TPMS is a local visitor survey that aims to gather the profile and travel characteristics of visitors, evaluate specific products based on the engagements of customers, and provide indicators to determine the economic impact of tourism products.

The participants are local enumerators from the municipality of Malay who are expected to conduct the survey from Oct. 22 to 28 targeting 480 Boracay guests. (PNA)
