All towns in Surigao Norte now with free Wi-Fi

BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) 13 (Caraga Region) said all the 20 towns and one city in Surigao del Norte are now connected to the agency’s Free Wi-Fi for All Program.

“The DICT-13 has successfully established the free wi-fi internet access in the 21 locations in Surigao del Norte,” the DICT-13 said in a statement Tuesday.

The agency added that free internet access will boost the connectivity of residents in the province.

In Siargao Island, where nine towns in the province are located, free Wi-Fi is available in Burgos, Dapa, Del Carmen, General Luna, Pilar, San Benito, San Isidro, and Santa Monica.

In the mainland, the DICT-13 has connected its free Wi-Fi program in the towns of Alegria, Bacuag, Claver, Gigaquit, Mainit, Malimono, Placer, San Francisco, Sison, Tagana-an, and Tubod.

“More sites are coming as the Department of Information and Communications Technology - Mindanao Cluster 2 continues the rollout of the Free Wi-Fi for All Program,” the agency said.

The free Wi-Fi is among the priority programs of the DICT that helps boost the connectivity of local government units in the country. (PNA)
