The two seasoned actors form the charming pair of Margie and Capt. Rosales in the hit Netflix series.

Actors Cris Villanueva and Gelli de Belen revealed on the Silly Gang podcast, that their characters on the hit Kapamilya series, 2 Good 2 Be True, were not initially envisioned to be a romantic pair.

De Belen notably played Margie, the endearing mom of Kathryn Bernardo in the series, while Villanueva portrayed the policeman, Capt. Rafael Rosales, who handled the Agcaoili cases. The pair formed became one of the most followed team-ups on the show, aside from the lead pair of Daniel and Kathryn.

During their guesting on the podcast, Silly Gang on Spotify, the unlikely onscreen couple revealed something about their roles.

“Meron akong ibubuko nang konti, kasi noong una, wala pa talagang love teams. Parang ano lang, KathNiel, ganyan.

“(I have something to reveal, because at first…there really were no other love teams. I mean, aside from KathNiel),” Villanueva noted.

“Tapos noong pumasok ‘yung away namin sa ano…binibiro nila sa set na ‘oh may teen layer na tayo. Di ba may ganon, sa mga teleserye? May teen layer sila ‘yung mas bata na loveteams.

“(And then there was some sort of conflict, and the showrunners were suddenly teasing us, ‘oh we now have a teen layer. You know what that is, right? In TV shows? There is always that teen layer, consisting of younger pairs),” he added.

“Kami pala ‘yun. Kami daw ‘yung teen layer (They told us, we’re that layer),” he revealed, to the hosts and the listeners’ surprise.

De Belen chimed in, and jokingly said, “Old layer, pala, (an old layer, it turned out to be.

“Wala talagang intesyon na magiging si Margie at si Kap. Parang nakakita sila ng…’uy there’s some kind of a chemistry with the characters. Baka we can explore it’.I think that’s where it came from.

“(There really was no intention to pair Margie with Capt. Rosales. But then they were like, ‘there’s some kind of chemistry with the characters, here. Maybe we can explore it further. I think that’s how it started),” she added.

The series, which is down its last episode tonight on free TV, has already completed its run on Netflix, where it remains the most streamed TV show in the country. The series also leads the chart on iWantTFC.
