The former Kapamilya star was a trending topic on social media yesterday, January 20.

Toni Gonzaga, celebrating her 39th birthday yesterday, via an anniversary concert at the Big Dome, became a trending topic on Twitter Philippines as “former” fans bid her farewell. Hours before her controversial concert, which marked her 20th year in showbiz, the hashtag #PaalamToniGonzaga was noticeably among the most talked-about topics on the platform, with many netizens reminiscing about the times when they were still into Gonzaga’s music and movies.
“Flashback bday ng tito junior mo at nagsimula na kayong magkantahan ng mga pinsan mo. Naalala mo pa nga viva hotbabes yung background sa videoke pero walang nagpapigil sayo. Una mong hinanap ay ang Catch Me I’m Falling tapos ipinila mo na rin ang We Belong,” tweeted @MedtechsForLR .

“#PaalamToniGonzaga never imagined that i will stop liking you. lahat ng movies mo pinanood ko. lahat ng tv projects mo suportado ko. pero salamat dahil nalaman kong mas mahal ko pa rin ang bayan na sinalaula ng sinuportahan mo!!,” shared Jasper, who surely did not wish such a day of letting go would come.

I LOVE YOU TONI. BUT YOU FAILED US THIS ELECTIONS.
I GUESS IT'S THE END OF AN ERA FOR US– OF PATRONIZING YOU.EVEN IF IT WAS REALLY HARD TO DO.
PS. Maybe I will still listen to your songs from time to time. Or maybe not

AC Soriano, who is known for impersonating Gonzaga and other celebrities, was wondering why there was such a trend. “bakit trending yung #PaalamToniGonzaga birthday pa man din ng idol ko! napakasama nyo sa pagpapatrend nyo ng #PaalamToniGonzaga!,” his tweet reads, his tone sarcastic.

On behalf of her family, sorry na daw sabi niya ✌🏻
But I guess, the hashtag #PaalamToniGonzaga is intended on how the public was dismayed and felt bad to what happened to her career & her family due to timely issues

Prior to her birthday and anniversary concert, rumors had it that ticket sales were poor. This is because Gonzaga’s mother, Mommy Pinty, and concert producer, Joed Serrano, went the extra mile to keep the event from becoming a flop.
They did this by hoarding tickets and giving them away. Serrano, later on, clarified that they were merely reselling the tickets to close family and friends.
