Unica Hija’s head writer Renato Custodio Jr. discussed how the story came to be and the message they want to convey to the audience.

He explained, “Marami kaming binasa na mga article, regarding cloning…lahat ng ito nakatulong para mabuo ‘yung buong konsepto ng istorya…bagamat nasa backdrop siya ng science fiction, ang puso niya ay iisa pa rin… the need to belong. And that is the character of the clone.

Mr. Custodio stated that the network is always looking for something new, and ‘Unica Hija’ is about to deliver on that promise.

He emphasized, “Iba ang audience sa afternoon. Iba sa primetime. Mapangahas siya because medyo mataas, science fiction at may mga effects siya. Kaya confident kami na makakapenerate pa rin ‘to sa viewership ng afternoon.”

The head writer also tackled the controversy of banning foreign drama in the country and assured that the Philippines could compete if ever given the chance.

He added, “Kaya lang talagang mahirap sa time. Hindi gaano kahaba ‘yung panahon natin to produce pero kaya. At ang isang palabas na nagraraise ng isyu at katanungan sa audience para sa akin is a worthy show. Gaya nitong aming Unica Hija magraraise ito ng maraming katanungan.”

According to Custodio, the show’s primetime series will also confront the debate between religion and science.  He concluded, “Kung pag uusapan ang tungkol sa relihiyon, paniniwala sa Diyos at sa Science…Are they competing or are they in harmony?”

The GMA network will premiere ‘Unica Hija’ on November 7.

The series stars Kelvin Miranda, Faith Da Silva, Athena Madrid, Boboy Garovillo, Maricar De Mesa, Bernard Palanca, Biboy Ramirez, Maybelyn Dela Cruz, Jennie Gabriel, and Jemwell Ventinilla.
