WIDE International ventures into filmmaking

During the media conference on October 10, including LionhearTV, WIDE International Founder April Ann Martin discussed her company’s venture into the industry of filmmaking. Thus, the name WIDE International Film Productions was born.

Martin highlighted how they never stopped looking for opportunities amid the pandemic, which led them to partner with filmmakers and artists.

“Kami kasi–as business people, as entrepreneurs, business owners, we never stopped spotting and looking for opportunities, as well. We know that the film industry got hit as well by the pandemic. But some looked at it as a negative thing, but we looked at it as a positive and an opportunity–because kaunti lang ‘yung magpu-push na mag-jump in agad dahil patapos pa lang naman ‘yung pandemic. So ganon ‘yung nakita naming opportunity dito.”

She also cited how they adjusted and adapted to the film industry culture after interacting with filmmakers such as Direk Louie Ignacio.

“Next to that, ito gusto kong sabihin sa mga celebrity partners natin na nandito, kami kasi sobrang thankful kami that they trusted the company. They adjusted to the culture, the kind of business that we had, and to give back to them– we also want to learn their industry– as well. 

“So being an entreprenuer kasi, kung kaya naman naming aralin and makakapagbigay ng opportunity to them to give back, I guarantee you, ‘yung mga celebrities na kasama namin hindi namin tatantanan ‘yan. Sangkatutak po ‘yung projects nila sa amin. Because that is one way for us letting people know that we can create opportunities for all walks of life.”

She also discussed where she sees WIDE International would be five years after venturing into the film industry.

“How do we side WIDE International five years from now? Basically, we are a multibillion– multicompany in five years. So that’s what we see, we have created a lot multimilloinares in the industry of films–in the industry of distribution– in the industry of wellness resorts and hotel– in the industry of digital subscription. 

“So basically, we would check our business model every year because our business model is interconnected, eh.”

She also stressed their company’s move to support the celebrity partners they recently included in their company, such as Ken Chan and Pokwang.

“Bakit also film, because we also have partners who are in that industry and we also want to–kumbaga ‘yung concept ng from roots to fruits. Bakit pa tayo hahanap sa iba, bakit pa kayo mag-iispot ng opportunity sa iba, kung kaya naman naming ibigay.”
