Gigi De Lana and The Gigi Vibes ang ‘SAKALAM’ sa Immuno Beats concert

Wow naman! Talaga naman, talaga naman! Kakaiba ang performance level nina Gigi De Lana and bandmates Jon Corleone, Romeo Marquez, Jake Manalo and LA Arquero as they brought the house down during Immuno Bean’s Immuno Beats online concert last October 22.

It was a night of kantahan, kapehan, kwentuhan and kulitan, na sumakto pa on a Friday making it the perfect way to cap off the work day and usher in the weekend. The event was powered by healthy coffee brand Immuno Bean, kaya naman energy kung energy ang labanan as Gigi and The Gigi Vibes entertained thousands of viewers non-stop with smooth OPM sounds and funny banter. 

Gigi kicked things off with a rousing rendition of “Mundo” by IV of Spades and followed it up with “Till I Met You,” a song popularized by one of her singing idols, Regine Velasquez. In between sets, may pa-giveaway na Immuno Bean gift boxes, mugs, tumblers at pati na rin mga LED temperature-reading flasks (sosyal!). 

Ang pinaka-bonggang gift na ipinamigay that night ay 25 boxes of Immuno Bean kaya unli-kape lang ang peg. Para mapili, viewers just had to answer the question, “How do you chillax after a busy day?”

Gigi answered it herself and shared, “‘Pag umiinom ako ng kape, sobrang nare-relax ako. Kasi acidic ako, hindi ako [madalas] umiinom ng kape. Pero noong tinry ko itong Immuno Bean, hindi ako nag-acid so talagang paborito ko ’tong kape na ’to! Kahit siguro makatatlo o apat na baso [ako] sa isang araw, sobrang sarap [at] sobrang nakaka-relax. Tapos ang bango niya!”

Sa sobrang bilib ni Gigi sa Immuno Bean coffee, idinikit niya ang packaging nito sa mukha niya. Seryoso. Para raw ma-absorb ang herbal supplements inside the coffee! Ang kulit di ba? 

Unlike the usual giveaway, sobrang kuwela ng presentation nina Gigi and The Gigi Vibes. While showing off the mug-and-coaster set, Gigi proceeds to dramatically fan herself as she explained, “Kapag mainit, pwedeng gawing pamaypay ang coaster.” 

Tapos humirit pa si Oppa Jake ng, “Pwedeng pang-frisbee,” then Gigi suddenly does an impromptu ASMR session by rhythmically tapping on the mug. Tamang kakulitan lang. Later on, naglaro pa sila ng “Most Likely To” at nagturuan pa nga kung sino ang madalas umuubos ng kape o kung sino ang sumusungit kapag hindi nakapagkape. Feel mo talaga na nakikipagtropahan ka lang sa kanila while watching the stream.

Pero kapag oras na para magkantahan, game face mode na uli ang buong banda grooving to Pinoy tunes like “Oo” and “Tadhana” by Up Dharma Down plus, “H’wag na H’wag Mong Sasabihin” na pinasikat ni Kitchie Nadal. 

Kahit nakakailang set na, G pa rin sina Gigi at napahirit pa siya ng “Gigi Vibes, magpasabog tayo ng energy!” Sabay nagrakrakan complete with headbang-an while wildly waving around the coffee packs. 

Siyempre, dahil usapang OPM, di pwedeng mawala sa set ang original song nila called “SAKALAM,” written by fellow bandmate Romeo Marquez and their musical producer Erwin Lacsa. And as with most memorable OPM love songs, very hugot ang feelings. Kaya naman napa-comment si Gigi pagkatapos ng, “Ayan! So kayo naman diyan, kapag feeling mo ang ‘sakit ay SAKALAM,’ baka ito na ang wake up call mo to find someone better because you deserve better.” Pak! Sapul!

Dahil diyan, nagyaya ng “Cheers!” si L.A. with their mugs of coffee. After that, akala ng viewers tapos na ang concert but wait, there’s more! May encore performance of “Forevermore” by Side A pa pala! Palakpakan!

Sobrang chillax and unwind-perfect ang Immuno Beats, especially after a hectic day. Hopefully, we’ll have more ganaps like this.
