DAGUPAN CITY – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has recorded 11 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of 9 a.m. on Monday, bringing the overall tally of recovered cases to 2,517.
Based on the PHO data, six of the newly recovered patients were from Dagupan City, three from Calasiao town, and two from Asingan town.
Meanwhile, this city logged 28 new cases on Sunday, pushing the total active confirmed cases to 203.
In an interview on Monday, Covid-19 focal person Dr. Ophelia Rivera said the new active cases were mostly from four families in six barangays.
Each of the families has six members positive for the virus.
“We are expecting the increase due to the local transmission within residences during the holidays,” Rivera said.
Some of the new cases are close contacts of previous Covid-19 confirmed cases, she added.
The barangays that have the most numbers of Covid-19 cases are Bonuan Gueset with 35 cases, Pantal with 33 cases, Mayombo with 17 cases, Bolosan with 14 cases, and Malued with 12 cases.
Rivera said stringent contact tracing is being conducted to isolate, test, and treat individuals with Covid-19.
The city has conducted free 16,892 Covid-19 tests in the city. (PNA)
