LEGAZPI CITY – The Office of Civil Defense-Region 5 (Bicol) on Sunday placed the region under a blue alert status in view of the anticipated effects of Tropical Storm Auring.
In an interview, OCD Bicol spokesperson Gremil Alexis Naz said the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) is currently focused on the storm’s possible effects.
Under the blue alert status, Naz said all local DRRMCs have been told to closely monitor and coordinate to their respective areas of responsibility.
He added the council heads must be ready with their respective contingency plans, implement preparedness measures, put up operation centers, and deploy response teams throughout the region.
As of Sunday, the provinces of Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Albay, Catanduanes, and the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Caramoan, Presentacion, Sagnay, Buhi, Iriga City, Nabua, Bato, Balatan) have been placed under Signal No. 1. (PNA)
