ZAMBOANGA CITY--Government agencies and private contractors undertaking various projects under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Rehabilitation (Z3R) have committed to rushing up works to meet the August 31 deadline.
This, as Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar convened the Local Inter-Agency Committee (LIAC) anew to ask the agencies to expedite completion of their projects so that by August 31, all Z3R projects should have been finished.
Salazar said Tuesday she was planning to invite President Rodrigo Duterte to grace the inauguration for the last of the Z3R projects that remain pending, almost eight years since its inception following the 2013 siege.
“We have to finish all projects under the Z3R by Aug. 31, and there shall be no more Z3R to talk and think about beyond the deadline, and we shall be able to move on and focus on other projects,” she said.
The Z3R is the government's rehabilitation plan for the areas affected by the 21-day 2013 Zamboanga siege.
City housing officer Rodrigo Pagotaisidro, head of the LIAC secretariat, said the pending Z3R projects include the road setbacks at Buggoc Transitory Site in Barangay Rio Hondo, Vale Vista Phases 1 and 3 in Barangay Kasanyangan, Transitory Shelters at Sitio Asinan, Kasanyangan, other Transitory Shelters at the Rio Hondo Elementary School Campus, water pipe laying in Barangays Rio Hondo, Mariki, Sta. Barbara, Sta. Catalina and Kasanyangan, and installation of electric posts in Mariki.
Meanwhile, he said the demolition of illegal structures encroaching on the Z3R road had been put on hold, pending the Department of Interior and Local Government's (DILG) opinion as to who will sign the demolition order: the city engineer being building officer or the city administrator.
Pagotaisidro said they expect the DILG opinion to be issued next Monday. (PNA)
