BTS are continuing their global domination well into 2021 with an album drop and MTV Unplugged guesting and now our boys are appearing at this year’s Grammys. Recording Academy, the music organization that holds the awards, confirmed that the artists will be “coming together, while safely apart.” Based on this statement, we can expect either a recorded performance or a livestream event (perhaps, a mix both).
The news of the group’s Grammy performance comes days after they were named as the best-selling artist of 2020 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents the global music recording industry. The award is calculated based on the artist’s (or group’s) worldwide sales, streams, downloads, covering their whole body of work.
It was only last year that two albums, “Map of the Soul: 7” and “Be,” were released by the group. BTS ranked higher than Taylor Swift, who placed second. They are the first non-Western act to win the prestigious title and the first artist whose songs are not predominantly sung in English.
