Support from Rabiya Mateo’s hometown

Ilonggo artists Kristoffer Brasileño, Jester Macabanti, and Kyle Dominic Sarte drew a portrait of Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo in front of the Richmonde hotel at the Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.  The portrait was inspired from Rabiya’s photoshoot wearing a gown designed by Francis Libiran.

Iloilo’s Fredman Beach Resort also created a Mateo masterpiece of their own. The summer venue has become popular for its series of sand art. In a post on their Facebook page it reads, “Go for the win, Rabiya. Palangga ka namon kag sang mga taga-Iloilo. [Mahal ka namin ng mga taga-Iloilo]”

Excuse me po!

The Miss Universe event was broadcasted live from Florida on a Sunday evening, which meant that it fell on a Monday in the Philippines. Pero hindi magpapapigil ang mga hardcore faney  kaya naman some Pinoys got really creative. Jenny de los Santos, a 20-year-old student from West Visayas State University in Iloilo City, posted an excuse letter last Saturday. She asked to skip out on online classes in order to watch the beauty pageant.

According to Jenny de los Santos, Monday will be the “most beautiful day in the Universe.” The student continued in her letter, “Not supporting our very own Rabiya O. Mateo, Miss Universe Philippines 2020, will make me fail not only as a Filipino but also as an Ilonggo.”

Hindi rin magpapatalo sa essay contest ang online user na si Pretty Zhen na may sariling excuse letter para sa HR nila.

Sinabi ni Pretty Zhen, “[The] Philippines is one of the powerhouses in the world of pageantry and our candidate every year brings pride and honor to our country.”

The online user assured HR na hindi niya bibitawan ang trabaho and said, “I’ll be doing my responsibilities and work after that.”

Aba, mukhang pwedeng sumabak sa Q&A portion si Pretty Zhen!

Iba talaga ang Pinoy when it comes to stanning favorite personalities—pang-loyalty award!

How far will you go for your beauty pageant fandom?
