Discover Eats S1 Ep. 1: Quezon

2017 • 23 mins

The first episode took us to Quezon Province named after its most prominent son, President Manuel L. Quezon. In Lucban, the art capital of Quezon, we visited Abcede Restaurant, known for making the popular Lucban longganisa. We featured Pizza Veloce, an Italian-themed restaurant that incorporates the famous Lucban longganiza on its pizza. Host Clang Garcia interviewed Culinary Historian Milada Valde who showed to DiscoverEats some of the favorite foods of President Manuel L. Quezon. We spoke to the members of the Quezon Food and Tourism Association. The group was formed a decade ago to promote tourism in the province and to enhance cooperation among local travel agencies and restaurants. Yumis Farm is one of the members of the organization. Lady farmers are running the farm. Part of their presentation to tourists is the performance of local dance and wedding traditions. In Ouans Farm we were welcomed by a feast of authentic Quezon cuisines that are passed down through generations and by showing us how to prepare minukmok. While most food shops owners prefer to maintain traditional recipes, Quezon is also home to some young chefs who are championing fusion cuisine putting twist to otherwise heritage gourmet. The owners of Pepet are such chefs. These two brilliant cooks have already won international competitions. The last stopover was Campitas for pasalubong and snacks
